2016 features two major flagship phones, Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. A leaked list of specifications posted on Reddit indicates that the S7 edge is going to be a bit bigger than last year’s model.
Redditor mobileleaks posted a screenshot that appears to be from the Galaxy S7 edge, which shows that the device will have a display of 5.7 inches, which would represent a significant play up of the S6 edge’s 5.1-inch display.
Here is the leaked image that purportedly shows the S7 edge’s display:
Also revealed in the leak includes; 2,560 x 1,440 pixels screen resolution, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of base storage, a 12.2-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera which is way lower that that of the S6 edge 16 megapixel rear camera.
However, we’ve seen repeatedly that megapixel counts don’t necessarily make a camera great and Samsung has shown that it makes absolutely fantastic smartphone cameras that take beautiful pictures. If Samsung really has lowered the resolution for the S7 edge’s camera, I wouldn’t expect it to significantly reduce the device’s camera quality compared to the S6 edge.
Until it is confirmed, this is all still a rumor. But I hope it’s not…Fingers crossed.
