About one month after Emtek announced the end of BlackBerry Messenger for consumers, today, the company pulls the plug on BlackBerry Messenger for good.
The shut down is as a result of the service constantly losing users to competitions and failing to attract new ones. At some point, the company sued Twitter, Facebook and Snap over patent infringement.
We poured our hearts into making this a reality, and we are proud of what we have built to date,
Emtek wrote in a blog post last month.
The technology industry however, is very fluid, and in spite of our substantial efforts, users have moved on to other platforms, while new users proved difficult to sign on.
To reward diehard fans, BlackBerry opened BBM Enterprise, its enterprise-grade encrypted Messenger for personal use which is available on Android, iOS, Windows and Mac.
